IPL 2023: Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant’s replacements announced
Both Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals have respectively announced their replacements for Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant. Mumbai have signed up Kerala’s pace bowler Sandeep Warrier to take up Bumrah’s role. On the other hand, Abhishek Porel will be playing in place of Rishabh Pant in IPL 2023.
Sandeep Warrier has played for India once as he made his T20I debut against Sri Lanka in 2021. He has played in 68 T20s and has scalped 62 wickets. In his IPL career, he has represented Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore. The 31-year old has featured in 5 IPL matches and has two wickets to his name. He will be replacing Jasprit Bumrah who has suffered a long-term back injury.
Delhi were in a spot of bother with no specialist wicket-keeper being available in the absence of Rishabh Pant. They have now added Abhishek Porel to their roster. The 20-year old Bengal wicketkeeper has played 3 T20 matches and only has 22 runs to his credit. The uncapped wicket-keeper will be making his IPL debut if he gets a game this season. Pant had earlier suffered a major car accident which ruled him out of the IPL season.
