IPL 2022: Three CSK bowlers who can take Deepak Chahar’s place
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) most expensive buy for the season Deepak Chahar (INR 14 crore) is set to miss the majority of the 2022 Indian Premier League due to an injury. Only a speedy recovery will allow him to take part in the business end of the tournament. With Chahar set to miss the action during the starting phase of the tournament, here we take a look at the possible replacements for Deepak Chahar from the current CSK squad.
1. Mukesh Choudhary
Maharashtra’s Mukesh Choudhary bagged his maiden call up in IPL after CSK purchased the left-arm pacer at INR 20 lakh. The pacer has been associated with the franchise as a net bowler in previous seasons. Choudhary is a regular feature in Maharashtra XI in the domestic circuit.
The 25-year-old is the only left-arm pacer in the yellow army squad. With the defending champions playing their four matches in Pune, the home ground of the Maharashtra team, Choudhary can become a lethal option for the franchise due to the familiarity of the venue.
2. Simranjeet Singh
Right-arm pacer Simranjeet Singh was another player who was bagged by the franchise at his base price of INR 20 lakh. Known for his pace, the pacer can become a lethal option under the leadership of skipper MS Dhoni.
The 25-year-old bowler from Jalandhar was a reserve bowler during India’s tour of Sri Lanka last year. With conditions at the Wankhede Stadium favoring movement with the new ball, he can become an ideal replacement for Deepak Chahar. The bowler also has the ability to nail the yorkers which could be used during the death overs.
3. Tushar Deshpande
Pacer Tushar Deshpande made his IPL debut for the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 2020 season. The bowler has the ability to bowl at the 140km/h mark on a consistent basis. After being released by DC, Deshpande was picked by CSK at INR 20 lakh. The pacer has been a force to reckon with for many batters at the domestic circuits. He has played five games in the world’s biggest cricketing league and has picked three wickets.
