IPL 2022: SRH vs LSG Review – Lucknow prevail in a close finish

Sunrisers Hyderabad succumbed to their second straight defeat after losing to the Lucknow Super Giants in Match 12 of IPL 2022. The Men in Orange in a chase of 170, started off with two wickets inside the powerplay while Aiden Markram and Rahul Tripathi played a good hand. However, Nicholas Pooran and Washington Sundar were the dangerous batters and once they were gone, Sunrisers fell short by 12 runs in the end.

Earlier, Lucknow Super Giants had a poor start after losing the toss and were sent into 27 for 3 with three batters gone already. However, skipper Rahul (68) and Hooda (51) stitched an 87-run partnership for the fourth wicket and set the platform for a big score to be posted. Some good blows towards the back end of the innings from Jason Holder and Krunal Pandya got them to a competitive score.

Top Performers from the game

Avesh Khan

Avesh Khan was back at his best for the Lucknow Super Giants as the right-arm seamer picked up four wickets for just 24 runs in his four-over spell. Avesh got the early breakthroughs of the openers Abishek Sharma and Kane Williamson and returned to pick up the dangerous Nicholas Pooran who was taking the game away from the Lucknow side.

KL Rahul

KL Rahul played the situation really well as three wickets had gone early for the Lucknow Super Giants and he formed an excellent partnership with Deepak Hooda for the fourth wicket. The right-hander hit six fours and one six in his 50-ball 68 and would have been more destructive if he had stayed in the death overs.

What next for the two teams?

Lucknow Super Giants will take on the Delhi Capitals on the 7th of April at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai, while Sunrisers Hyderabad will next play the Chennai Super Kings on the 9th of April at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.
