IPL 2022: SRH vs LSG Preview – Sunrisers seek their first win
The Sunrisers Hyderabad will be locking horns with the Lucknow Super Giants in Match 12 of IPL 2022 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on April 4. Both teams will be heading into this contest on the back of contrasting results.
After suffering a five-wicket defeat in their season opener against the other new entrants Gujarat Titans, Lucknow staged a remarkable comeback in their next game with an impressive six-wicket win over the defending champions Chennai Super Kings.
SRH, on the other hand, would be looking forward to adding the first two points to their tally but more importantly, they would be eager to overcome a huge 61-run loss against the Rajasthan Royals in a high-scoring encounter last week.
The Orange Army would be hoping that their batters rediscover their rhythm after a humiliating performance in the first game where they also ended up registering the lowest-ever Powerplay score after being reduced to 14/3.
At the same time, the Hyderabad bowlers must also contain LSG’s in-form batters especially the top-order including skipper KL Rahul and wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock. They would also be wary of the destructive Evin Lewis’ exploits in the middle and death overs.

As far as the overseas availabilities of both sides are concerned, they will be missing the services of two Australian recruits- Pacer Sean Abbot for SRH and all-rounder Marcus Stoinis for LSG. The duo are currently in Pakistan where they are a part of the Aussies’ white-ball setup. The two players will only be available for selection in IPL 2022 after April 5 as per Cricket Australia (CA)’s central contract rules.
Meanwhile, it also remains to be seen how soon will the West Indies duo of Jason Holder and Kyle Mayers be selected in the Lucknow Super Giants’ playing XI from hereon. If either of them are selected, it would be interesting to see which of the foreign players will be benched.
