IPL 2022: RCB pacer Harshal Patel leaves bio-bubble following death in family
In an unfortunate development, Royal Challengers Bangalore fast bowler Harshal Patel has left the team’s bio-bubble following the death of a family member. Harshal got to know about the tragedy following RCB’s seven-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians on Saturday (April 9). Subsequently, he left the team’s bio-bubble to join his family. It’s yet to be known who has passed away in Harshal’s family.
It must be noted that Harshal has been a vital part of the RCB set-up since last season and his IPL record is phenomenal as well. He was also instrumental in RCB’s win over MI as he gave away just 23 runs in his quota of four overs and took two wickets in the process. If reports are to be believed, he will rejoin the IPL bio-bubble before RCB’s next assignment against Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday (April 12).
Harshal Patel to rejoin RCB ahead of CSK clash
“Unfortunately, Harshal had to leave the bio-bubble due to a death in his family. He will be rejoining the bubble before the next game against CSK on April 12,” an IPL source was quoted as saying by the Times of India. Meanwhile, Harshal has been on a roll this season, scalping six wickets in just four games. He has also scored some handy runs lower down the order.
As a result, RCB won three of their four games and are currently holding the third place in the team standings. It must be noted that Harshal won the Purple Cap last season for scalping 32 wickets in IPL 2021. As he has started well this season, expectations are extremely high from the 31-year-old.
Besides Harshal, the likes of Wanindu Hasaranga, Dinesh Karthik and Virat Kohli have also been brilliant for RCB this season. New skipper Faf du Plessis, apart from making his bat talk, has also been impressive with his leadership skills. Hence, it would be interesting to see whether the Bangaluru-based side can lift the elusive title this time around or the wait will continue.
