IPL 2022: RCB – 3 players to watch out for

Hasaranga

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have always been one of the most popular and loved cricket teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) right from the start in 2008. Always a star-studded team, RCB, is yet to win a title as their trophy cabinet still remains empty. Ahead of the IPL 2022, they bought some new players in the mega auction to give a new look to their side.

Let’s take a look at who are the 3 players to watch for RCB in IPL 2022:

1.Glenn Maxwell

In the last IPL, Glenn Maxwell was the fifth-highest run-scorer with 513 runs. He smashed six half-centuries at an average of 42.75 and strike rate of 144.10. Now that AB de Villiers has retired, the hard-hitting ‘Maxi’ will have big shoes to fill in the RCB batting line-up, which is looking a touch weak with only Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli as the main batters at the top. Maxwell can also chip in with his spin bowling and take some crucial wickets when needed. He was the fourth-highest run-getter in the Big Bash League 2021/22, while he scored 468 runs as well.

2.Wanindu Hasaranga

Wanindu Hasaranga was bought by RCB for INR 10.75 crores. He was the highest wicket-taker in the T20 World Cup 2021 with 16 wickets in eight matches. His average was just 9.75 and his strike rate 11.2. He bowled with an economy of 5.20 and even took a hat-trick in the tournament. As RCB’s premier spinner and leading wicket-taker of all time, Yuzvendra Chahal, has joined Rajasthan Royals, Hasanranga will be the man to lead the spin charge for RCB. He can even smash a few hits coming to bat lower down the order.

3.Josh Hazlewood

The quick Josh Hazlewood will lead RCB’s bowling unit alongside Mohammed Siraj. His performances in the T20 format have become better and better in the last two years. He snared 11 wickets in seven matches in the T20 World Cup in 2021 at an average of 15.90. With his terrific line and length plus his ability to concede lesser runs, Hazlewood will be a vital log in the bowling department along with Harshal Patel.
