IPL 2022: Rajasthan Royals pick Corbin Bosch as Nathan Coulter Nile’s replacement

Rajasthan Royals have announced South Africa cricketer Corbin Bosch as Nathan Coulter-Nile’s replacement for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Coulter-Nile was ruled out of the tournament due to a calf injury at the start of the tournament itself but the franchise hadn’t named any replacement for him. However, on Saturday (May 14), they confirmed the same with an announcement on their official Twitter handle.

Even IPL’s official website confirmed the replacement as the Royals secured Bosch’s services for his base price of INR 20 lakh. The 27-year-old has played 30 T20 matches in his career and has picked up 18 wickets at an economy of 8.16. He took part in the 50-over domestic tournament in March/April this year and sizzled with the bat as well smashing 79 runs in his last appearance while playing for the Titans.

Bosch has completed his quarantine and joined the team as well with the Royals posting his video in which the cricketer wore the team’s jersey. Bosch was part of South Africa’s U19 World Cup squad that won the title and he had delivered a Player of the Match performance in the final.

Rajasthan Royals at the third position in the points table

Rajasthan Royals, meanwhile, are at the third position in the points table with seven wins and five losses in 12 matches so far. They have lost three of their last four matches and need to win at least one of their remaining two games to seal their place in the playoffs. They also have a chance to make it to the top two by winning both their matches. RR will face the second-placed Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and the ninth-placed Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on May 15 and 20 respectively.

The Men in Pink are missing their finisher Shimron Hetmyer who left the bio-bubble to be with his wife for the birth of their first child. It remains to be seen if he returns to the bubble in time for at least the last league game of the Royals.
