IPL 2022: Mumbai Police assures full security
The IPL 2022 is just around the corner. The defending champions Chennai Super Kings will be locking horns with Kolkata Knight Riders in the curtain-raiser at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 26. The 15th edition of the marquee tournament will be played at four venues across two cities in Maharashtra- Mumbai, and Pune till May 29.
As far as the Mumbai leg is concerned, the Mumbai Police have ensured full safety for the smooth conduct of the upcoming tournament. The city police have assured of tight security during the league phase of the competition in Mumbai and that there will be no compromise whatsoever from their end regarding the same.
IPL 2022: Mumbai Police gears up for full security
According to reports, some unverified social media messages had given rise to speculations wherein it was said that “terrorists had conducted recce at Hotel Trident, the Wankhede Stadium and along the bus route between these two locations”. However, the police release has officially confirmed that they had not received any such information.
At the same time, Mumbai police have also stated that adequate security arrangements will be made at not only the Wankhede Stadium but also the CCI- Brabourne Stadium. The report further stated that arrangements will also be made at the team hotels as well.
Last week, the Delhi Capitals’ team bus was attacked by miscreants in Mumbai when the team had arrived in the city to begin their preparations for the upcoming tournament. An FIR was registered against the miscreants who were responsible for this heinous act. Luckily, nothing untoward happened as all the players, as well as the support staff, were unhurt.
Coming back to IPL 2022, all the participating teams have been divided into two virtual groups each. The number of teams have also been increased to 10 with the addition of two new franchises- Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans respectively. While CSK will be defending their title, the other sides would be raring to land their hands on the prestigious trophy as well.
