IPL 2022: MI vs PBKS, Stats Review – Rohit Sharma’s landmark and other stats
Skipper Mayank Agarwal and his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan both slammed fifties as Punjab Kings (PBKS) defeated the five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) by 12 runs in Match 23 of IPL 2022 at the MCA Stadium in Pune. The Kings inflicted more misery on the MI side as Rohit Sharma’s men have now lost their opening five matches on the bounce. Odean Smith and Kagiso Rabada took four and two wickets respectively as PBKS won their third match this season.
Meanwhile, here are some of the important stats and numbers from Match 23 between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League 2022:
50 – Ishan Kishan appeared in his 50th match for MI in the IPL.
2 – Shikhar Dhawan and Mayank Agarwal registered the second-highest opening partnership (97) this season. KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock added 99 runs against Chennai Super Kings. It is also PBKS’s best opening stand in this IPL.
1 – Dhawan has now scored the most runs (871) against MI in the tournament. He went past Suresh Raina’s tally of 824 runs.
10003 – Rohit Sharma reached the milestone of 10000 runs in T20 matches. He became the second Indian and seventh overall player to achieve the feat.
1 – MI became the first team to lose the opening five matches of an IPL season twice. They lost the first five games in the 2014 season as well.
2 – Dhawan equalled Virat Kohli and both are now joint-second for scoring the most 50-plus scores (47) in the IPL. David Warner tops the chart with 55 such scores.
