IPL 2022: MI vs LSG Preview – Winless Mumbai seek reversal of fortune

The Mumbai Indians will be locking horns with the Lucknow Super Giants in Match 26 of IPL 2022 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on April 16. Both teams will be heading into this contest having lost their respective encounters. While MI snatched defeat from the jaws of victory against the Punjab Kings by 12 runs, Lucknow suffered an agonizing three-run loss to the Rajasthan Royals despite Marcus Stonis’ valiant knock in the death overs.

It has turned out to be a forgettable campaign so far for the five-time champions having lost all their five matches this season. The bowlers have not been up to the mark working in tandem, especially pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah who has only managed four wickets so far. As far as the batting is concerned, the underperforming middle-order has been the biggest issue for MI in all their matches this year. Their middle-order batting line-up revolves around Kieron Pollard and Suryakumar Yadav.

LSG on the other hand have upped their game after a five-wicket loss against the Gujarat Titans in the season opener. Despite their bowlers conceding in excess of 200 in the second match against the defending champions CSK, the batters especially the middle-order showed great character to chase it down successfully. In fact, the bowlers did well to restrict RR to a manageable 165/6 but, the batters were off-colour and a crucial middle-order resistance meant that the margin of defeat was small for Lucknow.

Predicted XI of Mumbai Indians vs Lucknow Super Giants

Mumbai Indians

The Mumbai Indians might make one change in their Playing XI by including Fabian Allen ahead of a misfiring pacer Tymal Mills who has failed to make a mark in this tournament. Apart from that, they might not make any changes at least for now which has been inconsistent so far.

Lucknow Super Giants

The Lucknow Super Giants would not be keen to make any changes in their Playing XI despite a heartbreaking defeat against the Rajasthan Royals due to a collective batting failure at crucial junctures. However, all eyes will be on skipper KL Rahul whose bad form has put the franchise in a spot of bother.
