The mega auction of IPL 2022 just got concluded and there were many players who fetched a big amount of money from their respective franchises. The teams splurged crores of rupees and went the distance to buy the choice of players they wanted. In every auction, there are cricketers who become big-money superstars and this auction was no different.

5. Harshal Patel, Shardul Thakur, Wanindu Hasaranga, Nicholas Pooran (10.75 crores)

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) brought back their two players from last season, Harshal Patel and Wanindu Hasaranga by paying whopping 10.75 crores making both of them joint-fifth expensive buys along with Shardul Thakur and Nicholas Pooran. Delhi Capitals (DC) purchased Thakur and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) went for Pooran.

4. Liam Livingstone (11.5 crores)

The hard-hitting England batter Liam Livingstone found a new home in Punjab Kings (PBKS) as the franchise shelled out a staggering 11.5 crores to secure his services. Livingstone, who bowls handy leg-spin, is a reputed big-hitter of the ball and also has a T20 international century to his name. He was bought by 75 Lakhs by Rajasthan Royals last year but couldn’t do much damage in any of the games. His base price was 1 crore and got sold for 11.5 cores as he also became the most expensive overseas player in this year’s auction.

3. Shreyas Iyer (12.25 crores)

Shreyas Iyer, who has played all his IPL matches only for DC since 2015, finally moved on to a new team in the form of KKR. He became the first player to hit the 10-crore mark in the auction before KKR managed to splurge 12.25 crores on him. He is also expected to lead KKR in the upcoming IPL. Iyer had a base price of 2 crores and many teams were involved in a bidding war for him but KKR acquired him.

2. Deepak Chahar (14 crores)

Deepak Chahar, who became an integral part of CSK since joining them in 2018, returned to them as the franchise went the distance to make him the most expensive buy in their history. CSK splashed 14 crores for Chahar who won the title twice (2018 and 2021). He became the joint-third costliest Indian in IPL auction history.

1. Ishan Kishan (15.25 crores)

Mumbai Indians bought back their wicketkeeper batter Ishan Kishan as they paid a jaw-dropping 15.25 crores to make him the most expensive player in the mega auction 2022.  Overall, he became the second most expensive Indian player in IPL. Kishan had joined MI in 2018 for 6.2 crores and was the highest run-getter for them in 2020 with 516 runs. The 23-years old southpaw had a base price of 2 crores.
