IPL 2022 mega auction: 3 teams that will be after R Ashwin
Ravichandran Ashwin has been placed in the marquee list with a base price of 2 Crores and he has been brilliant in the last few IPL season particularly. The off-spinner has picked up 145 wickets in 167 IPL games at an impressive economy rate of 6.91. The 35-year-old can be a handy batter down the order and can bowl anywhere in the innings including with the new ball. He has a bag of tricks for the shorter formats and is expected to create a bidding war among the franchises.
Here are 3 teams that might pick R Ashwin in the mega auction.
Royal Challengers Bangalore:
The Royal Challengers Bangalore haven’t retained Yuzvendra Chahal ahead of the mega auction and they will have to fill the holes in the spin department. Washington Sundar couldn’t do much damage for the RCB side and was dropped from the playing XI for a lot of games. Bringing in Ashwin can solve many issues for the RCB side, as he can bowl with the new ball and adds to the Indian contingent.
Mumbai Indians:
Mumbai Indians have got plenty of strength in their fast-bowling department and they are likely to add some more overseas pacers to the equation as well. However, their spin department has struggled over the years, and they tried out the experience of Piyush Chawla last season which did not work. They haven’t retained Jayant Yadav or Rahul Chahar and might bid big for the veteran off-spinner Ashwin.
Sunrisers Hyderabad:
Sunrisers Hyderabad lacked quality Indian spin bowling in the previous editions and have relied too much on Rashid Khan to do the job. However, they will not be having the services of the Afghanistan spinner this time around, and bringing in Ashwin could be a huge boost to the side. The Tamil Nadu-lad can also add up the batting contingent for the Sunrisers Hyderabad side and the franchise will look out for him.
