IPL 2022: LSG vs GT Preview – Table-toppers collide

The top two teams of this season Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans will be locking horns in Match 57 of IPL 2022 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on May 10. Both sides would be heading into this clash on the back of contrasting fortunes. While Lucknow decimated Kolkata Knight Riders by 75 runs in their previous fixture, Gujarat went down to Mumbai Indians by five runs. Meanwhile, GT would be eager to do the double over LSG, having defeated them in the reverse fixture by five wickets.

By the virtue of LSG’s big win combined with a superior net run rate, the KL Rahul-led side has now taken the pole position in the points table, having won eight out of 11 games and 16 points to their tally. Therefore, the top spot is up for grabs in this mouth-watering clash between the two new entrants.

The Lucknow Super Giants have ticked all boxes ever since their last defeat to RCB over a fortnight ago and have not looked back since then. The Gujarat Titans, on the other hand, have too much to ponder after they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory with a couple of needless run outs and the middle-order having an off day.

However, the bowlers were good enough to restrict the MI batters to a manageable total of 177/6  when at one stage the five-time champions were looking set to post well in excess of 200.
