IPL 2022: KKR – 3 Players to Watch out for

The IPL fever is back in the country as the tournament will get underway in a few days’ time and all ten teams have made an excellent job in building their squads. Kolkata Knight Riders were desperate for a captain in the mega auction having moved on from Eoin Morgan and they made a brilliant decision to rope in Shreyas Iyer who has proved his captaincy potential already in the cash-rich tournament for the Delhi Capitals. Let us look into 3 players to watch out for in the KKR franchise in the upcoming IPL 2022 season.

Venkatesh Iyer

Venkatesh Iyer was one of the finds of the season last year as the left-hander from Madhya Pradesh broke into the Indian team on the back of an excellent stint with KKR. The 27-year-old did not play in the first phase of IPL 2021 in India, and he looked like a man on a mission in the second half of the season with 370 runs in 10 games at an average over 41. He was one of the main reasons behind a strong comeback from KKR last season to reach the finals and he will be hoping for a big season this time around.

Nitish Rana

Nitish Rana has been in and around the IPL for a long time and he finally earned a maiden call-up to the Indian team last year. The left-hander was in really good form in the first phase of IPL 2021 but went on a slide after that and finished with 383 runs in 17 games at an average of 29.46. He can also contribute with off-spin and a lot will be expected from him in the middle-order if KKR has to do well. Rana is one of the more versatile batters going around and he will have a massive role to play in the middle-order.

Varun Chakravarthy

Varun Chakravarthy made his way into the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2021 but his mystery spin could not do the trick in the international circuit as he would have liked. The 30-year-old has been prolific for KKR in the last two years and has been bowling the tough overs for the franchise. He has fallen out of the radar for the Indian side at the moment and he might have to pull his socks up in this season if he needs to get back in the Indian contingent. He is a match-winner on his day and will be one of the players to watch out for in IPL 2022.
