The Gujarat Titans finalized their squad in the 2022 IPL mega auction. Out of their total purse, the Gujarat Titans had a total of INR 15 Lakh remaining at the end of the auction, and the team will be led by Hardik Pandya. Strengths
The biggest strength for the Gujarat Titans is the depth that they have in the bowling department. They have two world-class bowlers in Rashid Khan and Mohammed Shami, and also have several other pace bowling options like Lockie Ferguson, Alzaari Joseph, Hardik Pandya, Varun Aaron and Vijay Shankar. They also have several spinners at their disposal, with the likes of Rahul Tewatia, and Jayant Yadav capable of causing problems, apart from Rashid Khan. They have terrific depth as far as their bowling department is concerned.
Weaknesses
The Gujarat Titans’ middle order lacks experience. Apart from Hardik Pandya and David Miller, there are several other new faces like Vijay Shankar, Abhinav Sadarangani, and Sai Sudarshan who have not been tested in a high-profile tournament like the IPL. And, this lack of experience might turn out to be their Achilles heel.
Opportunities
The Gujarat Titans have the opportunity to grow under Hardik Pandya as their leader. Pandya has age on his side, as he is only 28. He is also an experienced customer in IPL cricket, having played more than 90 matches. And, with leadership thrust on him, this will be an opportunity for the Titans to unearth a long-term leader in Pandya.
Threats
A major threat for the Gujarat Titans is that their top order lacks experience in the IPL. Apart from Wriddhiman Saha, not a single top-order batter has played more than 60 matches in the IPL. Experience is crucial at the top of the order, but the likes of Sadarangani and Sai Sudarshan have not featured much in a tournament like the IPL. Also, even Shubman Gill, though hugely talented and an asset for his side does not have a lot of experience under his belt. When they are up against quality new ball bowlers, the top order might face a challenge that they might find difficult to overcome.
