IPL 2022: Four players SRH are likely to retain ahead of mega auction

Kane Williamson

The Sunrisers Hyderabad side endured an abysmal campaign in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The ‘Orange Army’ lost 11 out of the 14 matches that they played in the 14th edition, and ended up at the last place in the points table.

And, ahead of IPL 2022, the mega auctions will take place, and SRH will be looking to rejig their side. The 2016 IPL champions will also retain some players ahead of the auctions as well. In this article, let us take a look at 3 players that SRH might retain ahead of the mega auctions.

1. Rashid Khan

This is a certainty. Rashid Khan is arguably the most sought-after bowler in T20 cricket today. The leg spinner boasts of a stupendous record in IPL cricket. The 23-year-old has played     76 matches in the IPL, and has scalped 93 wickets at an average of 20.56 and a strike rate of 19.48. Khan’s ability to bowl stump to stump and his ability to tie down the batsman makes him an asset for the Hyderabad side.

2. Kane Williamson

The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) side will also look to retain their skipper Kane Williamson. Williamson is a leader who brings with him a sense of cool and is a batsman who can mould his game according to the situation of the match. Williamson has scored close to 2000 runs in IPL cricket and has scored them at a superb average of 40.11 and a strike rate in excess of 130.

3. Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvneshwar Kumar brings with him a truckload of experience in IPL cricket. The right-arm pace bowling veteran has played 132 matches in IPL cricket and has scalped 142 wickets at a strike rate of 20.77. Kumar can swing the new ball both ways and can scalp wickets upfront. He can also bowl in the death overs and contain the flow of runs as well. Though he didn’t have a great IPL 2021 season, SRH might retain him.
