IPL 2022: Four players RCB are likely to retain ahead of mega auction
The mega auctions will take place ahead of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). And, all the IPL franchises are expected to give their list of players that they would like to retain ahead of the auctions by 30th November 2021. AB de Villiers has announced his retirement, and as a result, the RCB side will have to look for other options now. In this article, let us take a look at the 4 players that the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise might retain ahead of the auctions.
Yuzvendra Chahal
RCB would not like to let go of Yuzvendra Chahal because of the experience that he brings to the table. Chahal is a veteran of 114 IPL matches and has scalped a staggering 139 wickets in his career at an average of 22.28. Also, Chahal has been a part of the RCB side for 8 years, and the ‘Men in Red’ would want to continue this association with the 31-year-old.
Mohammed Siraj
Mohammed Siraj has been a part of the RCB side for the last 4 years. The right arm pacer has scalped 50 wickets in his IPL career and has taken his wickets at an average of 28.74. Siraj picked up 11 wickets in IPL 2021, and gave away runs at a good economy rate of 6.79. Given that Siraj is only 27 years old and has already been a part of the side for 4 years, RCB would want to retain him ahead of the mega auctions.
Glenn Maxwell
Glenn Maxwell was in scintillating form with the willow for the RCB side in the 2021 edition of the IPL. The right-hander was the highest run-scorer for the RCB side in the 14th edition and plundered 513 runs in 14 innings at an average of 42.75 and a strike rate in excess of 140. Maxwell played a key role in helping the RCB side qualify for the Playoff stages of the IPL. He will surely be a player whom the ‘Men in Red’ might want to retain.
Virat Kohli
This is an absolute no brainer. Virat Kohli has been the face of the RCB franchise ever since the inception of the IPL. The right-handed batting legend boasts of a stupendous record in IPL cricket. Kohli is the highest run-scorer in the IPL and has plundered a staggering 6283 runs in his career at an average of 37.39. Kohli will also be relieved of the burden of captaincy from IPL 2022 and will focus all his energies on scoring runs with the willow, and that might make him a dangerous batsman to bowl to.
