IPL 2022: DC vs MI Preview – Unavailablity of players hampers IPL stalwarts
The second match of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be played between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Delhi Capitals (DC). Rohit Sharma’s men will enter the tournament aiming at their sixth title, whereas Rishabh Pant will be eyeing to lead his team towards their first.
Mumbai Indians retained their core back, but Suryakumar Yadav’s absence would be felt as he is set to miss this game. Rohit has good experience of captaincy as he has led the Mumbai Indians for a long time now, and is also India’s all-format captain. But Rishabh’s captaincy skills will be looked after carefully as Indian selectors will be keen to watch out for a potential skipper for the future.
MI did not make it to the playoffs last season, and DC had to exit in the eliminator after losing to KKR. The two teams will be looking for a winning start as they enter India’s cash-rich event with a new team.

Playing Combinations
Mumbai Indians
Skipper Rohit Sharma and wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan will open the innings for their side. Tilak Varma looks a good candidate at No. 3 spot followed by Tim David at No. 4, and power-hitter Kieron Pollard at No. 5. All-rounder Daniel Sams might be seen playing at number seven while Anmolpreet Singh could well be the middle-order batter this time. Murugan Ashwin will hold the responsibilities with the bat as well as the ball, and Jaydev Unadkat, Tymal Mills, and Jasprit Bumrah will handle the pace bowling department.
Delhi Capitals
Power opener Prithvi Shaw will open the innings alongside Tim Seifert. Rovman Powell and KS Bharat will take up the No. 3 and No. 4 spots respectively. Skipper and keeper Rishabh Pant will come in at No. 5 to hold the middle order strong, followed by Sarfaraz Khan at No. 6. Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur will play the role of all-rounders in the team, and Chetan Sakariya, Kuldeep Yadav, and Kamlesh Nagarkoti will complete the lineup.
