IPL 2022: DC vs LSG Preview – Delhi aim to strengthen their playoffs bid

The Delhi Capitals will be locking horns with the Lucknow Super Giants in Match 45 of IPL 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on May 1. Delhi would be heading into this contest on a high after having got the better of Kolkata Knight Riders in their last encounter by four wickets in the penultimate over.

Delhi have seemed to have solved their jigsaw puzzle to a certain extent against KKR with the bowling and batting coming good. Wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav was yet again impressive with figures of 4/14 and Mustafizur Rahman’s 3/18 along with that restricted Shreyas Iyer & Co. to a modest total of 146/9.

Opener David Warner anchored the chase with a 26-ball 42 after losing Prithvi Shaw for a golden duck but, middle-order batter Rovman Powell roared back to form and played the finisher’s role successfully as he remained unbeaten on 33 runs from 16 deliveries.

The batting will be a cause of concern for LSG. At one point they seemed to be heading towards a good total against the Punjab Kings but a dramatic batting collapse saw them being restricted to 153/8. Lucknow lost skipper KL Rahul early for just six runs before his opening partner Quinto de Kock (46) and Deepak Hooda (34) added 85 runs for the second-wicket stand.

From a position of strength at 98/2 in the 13th over, LSG were reduced to 111/6 in the 16th over and courtesy of some vital lower-order contributions, they somehow crawled their way past the 150 mark. However, their bowling did well to defend the total and win the game comfortably.

Predicted XI for Delhi Capitals vs Lucknow Super Giants

Delhi Capitals

Having registered a much-needed win over the Kolkata Knight Riders to bring their IPL 2022 campaign back on track, the Delhi Capitals will not be interested in making any chopping and changes and would rather stick to the same winning combination. However, Tim Seifert could come in place of Mitchell Marsh.

Probable XI: Prithvi Shaw, David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Lalit Yadav, Rishabh Pant (c & wk), Rovman Powell, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Chetan Sakariya, Mustafizur Rahman

Lucknow Super Giants

The Lucknow Super Giants could make two changes to their side for this clash. Underfire all-rounder Marcus Stoinis could be benched and hard-hitting West Indies batter Evin Lewis could be added to strengthen the middle-order. Yorker specialist Andrew Tye could be added in place of Jason Holder who has been struggling after his match-winning three-wicket haul against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

KL Rahul (c), Quinton de Kock (wk), Evin Lewis, Deepak Hooda, Ayush Badoni, Krunal Pandya, Dushmantha Chameera, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Mohsin Khan, Andrew Tye
