IPL 2022: DC vs KKR Review – Delhi beat stumbling Kolkata
Delhi Capitals registered their fourth victory of the season after a comfortable victory against the Kolkata Knight Riders in Match 41 of IPL 2022. Chasing a mediocre total, David Warner showed his class with the bat and ensured that Delhi were always ahead of the required run-rate despite wickets falling. In the end, Rovman Powell managed to hit some lusty blows which sealed the deal for the Rishabh Pant-led side.
Earlier in the game, Kolkata Knight Riders’ woes with the opening combination continued as Aaron Finch and Venkatesh Iyer were dismissed early. Debutant Baba Indrajith and Sunil Narine were removed off consecutive deliveries but skipper Shreyas Iyer and Nitish Rana stitched a handy partnership. However, it was the pair of Rana and Rinku Singh that boosted the total to 146 on the board in the first innings. Mustafizur and Kuldeep combined picked up seven wickets.
Top Performers of the game
Kuldeep Yadav
Kuldeep Yadav yet again came up with a match-winning performance for the Delhi Capitals to haunt his former side KKR again. The left-arm spinner picked up four wickets and gave away just 14 runs in his three-over spell and broke the backbone of the KKR batting lineup.
Nitish Rana
In a relatively low scoring game, where the all batters struggled to get going, Nitish Rana played a fine hand to give his side a glimpse of hope while setting up the total. The left-hander hit a 34-ball 57 that included three fours and four sixes, and played some outstanding shots as well. Unfortunately for his team, his valiant efforts went in vain as he finished on the losing side.
What next for the two teams
Delhi Capitals will be up against the Lucknow Super Giants in their next encounter at the Wankhede Stadium on May 1 while the Kolkata Knight Riders will play the Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium on May 2.
