IPL 2022: Best XI of the Tournament
New franchise Gujarat Titans (GT) surprised everyone to win the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in their debut campaign itself. They defeated inaugural season winners Rajasthan Royals (RR) by seven wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Throughout the tournament, many players starred with their solid performances on a consistent basis.
Let’s take a look at the Best XI of the IPL 2022 season:
Jos Buttler
Jos Buttler was the star performer throughout the campaign. With 863 runs in 17 matches at an average of 57.53, he won the Orange Cap for scoring the most runs, and smashed four tons and as many fifties.
KL Rahul
The second-highest run-getter of the season, KL Rahul ended up with 616 runs in 15 innings at an average of 51.33. He smashed two centuries and four fifties with the best score of 103*.
Rahul Tripathi
One of the most impressive uncapped Indian players, Rahul Tripathi scored 413 runs in 14 matches at an average of 37.54 and a strike rate of 158.23. He slammed three fifties with the best score of 76.
Hardik Pandya
Hardik Pandya led his side to the title triumph with his solid leadership. In 15 games, he mustered 487 runs at an average of 44.27 with four fifties. He took eight wickets, which included a spell of 3/17 in the final.
Deepak Hooda
Deepak Hooda also had a good season on a personal note as he managed to score 451 runs in 14 innings at an average of 32.21 and a strike rate of 136.66, including four fifties.
David Miller
David Miller was the rock in GTs’ middle-order. In 16 matches, he racked up 481 runs at a solid average of 68.71 and a strike rate of 142.72. His unbeaten knock of 68 against RR in the Qualifier one helped GT to jump into the finals.
Andre Russell
Andre Russell was the shining light in Kolkata Knight Riders’ below-average season. He smashed 335 runs in 12 innings at a strike rate of 174.47. Russell snared 17 scalps, which is the most he has taken in any edition.
Wanindu Hasaranga
Wanindu Hasaranga ended the competition as the second-highest wicket-taker as he took 26 scalps at an average of 16.53 and an economy rate of 7.54, with the best figures of 5/18.
Umran Malik
Umran Malik terrorized the batters with his express pace. He snared 22 scalps at an average of 20.18 and a strike rate of 13.4 with the best bowling performance of 5/25.
Mohammed Shami
Mohammed Shami took 20 wickets in 16 matches at an average of 24.40. His economy rate was 8.00 with the best figures of 3/25 as he won the trophy with GT.
Yuzvendra Chahal
Yuzvendra Chahal won the Purple Cap for picking up the most wickets in the tournament. He took 27 wickets at an average of 19.51. His economy rate was 7.75 and heh also took a hat-trick.
