The two-day mega auction of IPL 2022 held on February 12 and 13 in Bangalore saw a lot of drama as the franchises hustled and bustled their way to seal the deal for their preferred players. Many uncapped cricketers attracted bids during the auction and the teams did buy them. Promising players who still haven’t made their debut for the national team might surprise many in the upcoming IPL by their performances.

1.Raj Angad Bawa

Raj Bawa was snapped up by Punjab Kings for INR 2 crore. Raj was the second-highest run-scorer in the title-winning U-19 WC 2022 campaign. He scored 252 runs with an average of 63.00 and a strike rate of 100.80. He also struck the highest individual score of 162* in the tournament. Raj also took nine wickets with an average of 16.66 and an economy rate of 4.50. His best bowling figures were 5/31 which came in the WC final against England as he also smashed 35 runs to win the WC for India. For his all-round show in the WC final, Raj was adjudged the Player of the Match award.

2.Rajvardhan Hangargekar

Rajvardhan Hangargekar was acquired by Chennai Super Kings for INR 1.5 crore. He took five wickets with an average of 28.80 and an economy rate of 3.67 in the Under-19 WC. He clocked 141.7 kph in the semi-final as many were impressed by his raw pace. The fast bowling all-rounder also has the capability to slog down the order as was witnessed against Ireland in the group clash where he smashed three straight sixes.

3.Yash Dayal

The 24-years old Yash Dayal was purchased by Gujarat Titans for INR 3.20 crore. He took 14 wickets in seven matches with an average of 17.35 and an economy rate of 3.77 in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021/22. His best bowling figures were 5/31. With the ability to swing the ball both ways, Yash can bowl quickly with a consistency of 140 kmph.

4.Tilak Varma

Tilak Varma was bought by Mumbai Indians for INR 1.70 crore. He scored 215 runs in seven games with an average of 35.83 and a strike rate of 147.26 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021/22. Tilak also amassed 180 runs and took four wickets in five matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy that followed later on. In the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2022, he has scored 185 runs in four innings with two fifties.

5.Vishnu Vinod
