The IPL 2022 season will commence on March 26 and the fans have been really excited to see ten teams battling out this time. With the inclusion of two new teams, a Mega auction took place in Bengaluru a month ago and despite a lot of veteran players putting up their names, there were only a few who were able to bag a contract. Here are the 3 oldest players that will be playing in the IPL 2022 season.

Faf du Plessis – 37 years

Faf du Plessis has been an integral part of the CSK franchise over the last decade in IPL however, he wasn’t retained by the franchise and was picked up by RCB for INR 7 Crores. The right-hander finished second in the race for the orange cap in the previous edition and has the ability to turn the match on its head. He was named as the skipper of the RCB franchise for the upcoming IPL 2022 season and he will be the third-oldest player in this season at 37 years of age.

Dwayne Bravo – 38 years

Dwayne Bravo recently announced his retirement from the international stages but will be part of the upcoming IPL 2022 season. The all-rounder was bought back by the CSK franchise in the Mega Auction for INR 4.40 Crores and he will be vital to the plans of the CSK set up in terms of death bowling. Bravo is among the all-time highest wicket-takers in IPL with 167 wickets in 151 games at an average of 24.3 and he will start as the second oldest player in IPL 2022 at 38 years.

MS Dhoni – 40 years

MS Dhoni at 40 years will be the oldest player in the IPL 2022 season and he will be captaining the Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming edition. The legendary batter was retained by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction for INR 12 Crores alongside Ravindra Jadeja, Moeen Ali and Ruturaj Gaikwad. The right-hander has played 220 IPL games scoring 4746 runs at an average of 39.5 and a strike rate of 135.8. He has led the CSK franchise to four titles already since the inaugural edition and will be looking to improve his performances with the bat this year after an ordinary season last year.
