IPL 2021: Warner’s Instagram story goes viral after being removed as SRH captain
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) took a bold decision on Saturday ahead of their next game against Rajasthan Royals in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). They sacked David Warner as the captain of the team and appointed Kane Williamson at the helm stating that the management is willing to change the overseas combination clearly hinting that the Australian opener could be changed.
This comes as a shocking development given the fact that Warner is the second-highest run-getter at the moment for SRH. He has scored 193 runs in six matches so far but his strike-rate of around 110 has raised eyebrows. The franchise also had to face a flak from the fans for this decision.
Meanwhile, it is still not known whether David Warner had any issues with the management. He recently had stated that it was selectors’ decision to leave out Manish Pandey from the playing XI. Interestingly, his sacking comes a couple of games after his comment on the matter. Many are speculating if that is the reason he has been removed from the captaincy.
David Warner’s Insta stories catch the attention
In the meantime, after SRH made the official announcement, the fans were quick to hover around David Warner’s social media handles and they found the cricketer posting a couple of stories on his Instagram account. The southpaw was missing playing in Hyderabad, the home ground of the franchise, and in front of the fans. In the next story, he also thanked one of the fans for crafting his wonderful painting.
