IPL 2021: Three unsold cricketers who can join as injury replacements
IPL 2021 auction was recently conducted in Chennai where a total of 57 players were bought by the 8 teams. In the auction, there were many talented players who were not picked despite great performance in recent times. However, these players can later be added to the IPL teams as an injury replacement. In this article, we are going to list out 3 such players.
Jason Behrendorff
Jason Behrendorff was part of the Mumbai Indians squad in IPL 2020 but was ruled out due to injury before the start of the tournament. He was unsold in the mini-auction of IPL 2021. The Australian pacer has a decent record in T20 cricket and can be a useful pick. Given the frequent injuries the fast bowlers have to face, it may well be possible that Behrendorff can be called in as a replacement player in a team during IPL 2021. Many teams look for a left-arm seamer in their squad, and Behrendorff is a good choice to complete that slot.
Alex Hales
Alex Hales was the highest run-scorer in the Big Bash League this season. However, he was not picked by any team in the auction. Hales has a very good record in the T20s and has proven his worth as an attacking opener. He may get a chance as a replacement player in the IPL if any team needs an opener in future. Hales had earlier played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL but did not get enough chances to showcase his skills.
Jason Roy
Jason Roy has been consistently performing well for England in the limited-overs formats. Despite having a great record in T20s, he could not find any buyer in the auction which was a surprising thing. Jason Roy had earlier played for the Delhi Team in the IPL. He may be a good fit for an opener’s role in an IPL team if they lose their top-order batsman due to injury.
