IPL 2021: These overseas players might miss IPL playoff matches
The 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 is just around the corner and fans can’t keep calm. The gala tournament will resume on September 19 (Sunday) with all the matches taking place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). With half of the tournament already done and dusted, the competition won’t be the same for all teams.
While some sides are a couple of wins away from a place in the playoffs, some are on the verge of getting knocked out. Notably, many foreign players have pulled out from the UAE leg citing different reasons. Although all franchises have named adequate replacements, their headache is still not over. With the T20 World Cup 2021 taking place right after IPL, several foreign players might miss the playoff stages. Besides the global event, some teams are scheduled to play other international matches as well.
Meanwhile, let’s look at the players who might miss IPL 2021 playoffs
Eoin Morgan
With England scheduled to play a couple of T20Is against Pakistan ahead of the T20 World Cup, Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Eoin Morgan is likely to miss the playoff stage.
Sam Curran
Curran has emerged as a vital cog of Chennai Super Kings (CSK). However, the Pakistan series might not allow the England all-rounder to feature in the playoffs.
Jason Roy
The dashing opener will serve Sunrisers Hyderabad in the UAE leg. However, the England dasher looks set to miss the playoff matches.
Sam Billings
Sam Billings will be seen in Delhi Capitals colours in the UAE leg. He, however, won’t be available for playoffs due to national duties.
Chris Jordan
The England pacer is a T20 specialist and his numbers are impressive as well. Punjab Kings won’t be able to utilize him if they reach playoffs.
Liam Livingstone
With several foreign stars missing out, Liam Livingstone is expected to play for Rajasthan Royals. However, the England star might not be available for the playoff games.
Adil Rashid
Punjab Kings bagged the services of veteran England leg-spinner Adil Rashid for the UAE leg. However, the star cricketer won’t be seen in the UAE leg.
Wanindu Hasaranga
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) signed Hasaranga for the UAE leg. However, the Sri Lankan leg-spinner could leave early for the T20 World Cup warm-up games.
Dushmantha Chameera
The Sri Lankan pacer is also a new addition to the RCB team. However, like Hasaranga, Chameera might also not be available for playoffs.
