IPL 2021: SRH vs RCB Preview – Defeated Hyderabad search for their first win

Kohli

After getting off to a winning start in the IPL 2021, Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on familiar foes Sunrisers Hyderabad as both teams play their second match of the season. Sunrisers Hyderabad haven’t got off to an ideal start, losing their match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday in Chennai.

Interestingly, the last time these two teams came head to head was back in the 2020 season in the playoffs. Sunrisers had knocked out the Royal Challengers on that occasion. Hence, this will be a good opportunity for Virat Kohli and his men to take their revenge against David Warner’s unit. In 18 matches so far between the two teams, Hyderabad have won 10 while Bangalore has won seven. One of their contests had ended without a result.

Team News

SRH

Jason Holder has entered the biosecure bubble of Sunrisers and has a slight chance of making it to the XI. But, Mohammad Nabi who was chosen as an all-rounder in the first match, did a fair job with the ball at least. The fact that the Chennai pitch offers some turn to the spinners might provoke Warner to stick with Nabi. Another surprise exclusion was that of Kane Williamson. Jonny Bairstow scored a fifty and might retain his place in the XI at no. 4. Rest of the combination might not change and they could play an identical XI for this match.

RCB

Royal Challengers Bangalore had the luxury of playing all their four first-choice overseas picks in the opening match against Mumbai. With Glenn Maxwell, AB de Villiers, Daniel Christian and Kyle Jamieson, RCB have made quite a strong overseas set-up. Devdutt Padikkal who missed the first match, having recently joined the RCB camp after being tested negative with COVID-19, might be back in the XI. If he returns, he is likely to replace Rajat Patidar in the line-up. The rest of the XI is expected to be the same as the one which played in the opening match.
