IPL 2021: Sanjay Manjrekar names the players to watch out for in the tournament
Sanjay Manjrekar, the former Indian cricketer, has named the two cricketers to watch out for in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). To start with, he named Shahrukh Khan, who’s a part of the Punjab Kings (PBKS), captained by KL Rahul. In the auction, Khan registered himself at his base price of INR 20 lakhs. But he ended up fetching a stunning amount of INR 5.25 crores.
Apart from PBKS, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC) also went after him. In the end, it was the Punjab-based team that secured his services. As his second pick, Manjrekar went for Lalit Yadav, who was sold to the Capitals at his base price of INR 20 lakhs. As per the veteran, both Khan and Yadav could go on and make a substantial career in the T20 league.
He took to Twitter and wrote, “Shahrukh Khan and Lalit Yadav…players to watch this IPL. Seem to have what it takes to be long term IPL players. #MIvDC.“

Pant praises Yadav
Yadav has played three games thus far in the tournament and has scored 54 runs at an average and strike rate of 54 and 98.18 respectively. He has also picked up a wicket and conceded 28 runs at a mere economy rate of 5.60. Recently, he also garnered praises from Rishabh Pant, the Capitals’ skipper.
After the game against the Mumbai Indians (MI) on Tuesday, April 20, Pant said that the Capitals would be grooming Yadav for the future. DC won the game by six wickets after chasing down 138 with five balls to spare.
“I think Lalit is a great Indian talent and we are looking to groom him. He can do wonders for us in a wicket like this,” Pant was quoted as saying after the game.
Khan has been impressive as well. In four games, the youngster has scored 90 runs at an average and strike rate of 45 and 145.16 respectively.
In the game against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), captained by the legendary MS Dhoni, he showed his class, scoring 47 runs off 36 balls with four fours and two sixes.
