IPL 2021: Sam Curran imitates Jadeja’s sword celebration after the latter hits a six

Curran

Sam Curran is known more for his bowling than batting, but he has played quite a few decent knocks, both for England and his domestic teams. The southpaw has also opened the batting and doesn’t mind taking on the opposition bowling attack. In 2019, Curran made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut for Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), now Punjab Kings (PBKS).

In 2020, he moved to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) where he plays under the leadership of MS Dhoni. Recently, he took part in the practice games before the 2021 edition of the cash-rich and prestigious T20 league. In the meantime, Curran was seen imitating Ravindra Jadeja’s trademark sword celebration. The former seemed to have nailed the same with perfection.

Earlier, Curran expressed gratitude for being able to play in the IPL. He stated that he has grown leaps and bounds after he got the chance to show his skills in the tournament.

Really enjoyed the IPL and feel I have taken my game to a different standard in terms of my learning. I took a lot away from that group and the coaching staff at Chennai. I feel my game has improved since I went there and I want to keep trying to improve and become a regular,” Curran said.

As far as Jadeja is concerned, he is set to return to the cricket field after a gap of three months. He developed an injury during the Test series against Australia after which he missed the ODIs, T20Is, and Tests against England as well.

See, Jadeja has been cleared [to play] by the NCA [National Cricket Academy]. He has joined our team for practice. He is looking good. He is working hard. And we are hoping that he will be fully fit by the time the IPL starts,” Kasi Viswanathan, the CSK CEO, was quoted as saying.

The Super Kings are set to start their campaign on Saturday, April 10 against Rishabh Pant’s Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. CSK failed to make the playoffs last time around and would be looking to make amends.
