IPL 2021: RR vs DC Preview – Young keeper-captains battle as Samson takes on Pant

After suffering a heart-breaking loss against Punjab Kings in their first match of the IPL 2021, Rajasthan Royals will now face Delhi Capitals, who are high on confidence after starting their season with a fantastic win against Chennai Super Kings. However, Delhi faced a slight setback in their campaign after one of their leading pacers, Anrich Nortje was tested positive with COVID-19 on Wednesday.

As far as their rest of the squad is concerned, Delhi would be happy to have started with a bowling combination that worked wonders for them in the first match. Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, would be eyeing a better performance from their batters. They have also faced a major blow as Ben Stokes was ruled out of the entire season with an injury. The match will be played at another batting-friendly track in Mumbai, so we can expect a high-scoring encounter.

Team News:

RR

The Rajasthan Royals’ would be devastated after losing England all-rounder Ben Stokes to an injury. He is a second of their star players, after Jofra Archer to experience an injury which keeps him out of the league matches. There is no sign of Archer getting fully fit any time soon. Either David Miller or Liam Livingstone will replace Stokes in the XI as of now. Rajasthan have not yet announced a replacement for Stokes. Other than replacing Stokes in the XI, Rajasthan is unlikely to make any other change to their side.

DC

In the absence of Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada, who were both in quarantine ahead of Delhi’s opening match in the IPL 2021, Tom Curran and Chris Woakes played as the two overseas pacers. Rabada, having finished his quarantine, could be seen coming into the side in place of Curran, who bowled an expensive spell in the previous game. The rest of the line-up is unlikely to be tinkered with. Steve Smith might have to wait some more time to make his Delhi debut in the IPL as the Capitals are likely to continue with Shimron Hetymer and Marcus Stoinis.
