IPL 2021: Rohit joins MI camp just a day after completion of England ODIs
Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians will be looking to become the first team to win the IPL thrice in a row in the upcoming edition of the competition. The five-time champions have won the last two editions of the tournament and are the favourites to win it once again. No other team in the past has managed to win the IPL in three consecutive years.
Last year, Mumbai became the second team after Chennai Super Kings to defend their IPL title. Mumbai Indians had looked almost invincible in IPL 2020 as they won the tournament in a thumping manner. They are more than capable of defending their title once again. The Mumbai-based franchise will open their campaign on April 9 with a clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
They will play their first five league games at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Their next four league games will take place in Delhi before they fly south to Bangalore for their next three league games. Mumbai Indians’ league phase will come to an end in Kolkata.
Mumbai Indians welcome Rohit Sharma:
With not much time left before IPL 2021 gets underway, the players have started joining their respective teams to start the preparations. On Monday, Mumbai Indians welcomed their skipper Rohit Sharma to the team hotel. The team is currently based at the Renaissance Mumbai Convention Centre Hotel. Rohit joined the team just a day after the completion of the ODI series against England.
The three-match series ended on Sunday with India beating the tourists in the third game to clinch the series. The India players were reportedly given an option of taking a maximum of four days off after the conclusion of the ODI series before joining their respective IPL franchises.
Rohit, however, has decided against it as he joined his IPL teammates in Mumbai. Mumbai Indians, on Monday, took to Twitter to post a video of Rohit Sharma entering the hotel premises with his car.
