IPL 2021: Ricky Ponting gets optimistic ahead of Qualifier 2
Delhi Capitals would be playing against Kolkata Knight Riders in Qualifier 2 of the IPL 2021. They played Qualifier 1 against CSK and had to bear the defeat as the yellow army stormed its way through the finals. However, ahead of their Qualifier 2, head coach Ricky Ponting added that he feels DC can win the title this year as they have played some classy cricket throughout the season.
Ponting further added that he has been associated with Delhi for three years now and knows well where his team stands. They have done some great work in the last two and even finished as finalists in the IPL 2020. This time around, players will be keen on grabbing their maiden title as there are here for that thing only.
“I’ve been in Delhi for three years. First-year I was here, we finished last. Two years ago, we finished third and last year we finished second. I think we can win the IPL, as simple as that. You know, I might go well on record saying that because that’s what I am here for. That’s what the players are here for,” said Ponting in a video uploaded by DC on social media.
‘Attitude, Effort, Commitment, and Care’ – Ricky Ponting on success mantra of DC
Talking more about Delhi, Ponting stated that this is totally a different Delhi side than it used to be two years back. Adding to his success mantra, he stated that they stick to four words while marching up and that are attitude, effort, commitment, and care.
“This is a different Delhi than it was two years ago. And the reason that it is, is because of what all you guys have brought to this franchise. We adhere to those four words we have said – Attitude, Effort, Commitment, and Care, will be better,” he added.
Having been led by Rishabh Pant, DC performed exceedingly well throughout IPL 2021 and booked a playoffs berth with 20 points. It remains to be seen if they can dominate KKR in Qualifier two and further clinch glory against Chennai Super Kings.
