IPL 2021: R. Vinay Kumar appointed as talent scout for Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians have the richest history of winning titles in the Indian Premier League and seems like they never make a wrong move in any of their departments. In the most recent turn of events, former Indian bowler R. Vinay Kumar has been roped in as a talent scout for the men in blue and golden. Talking about Kumar, in his 17-year first-class career, he had led Karnataka to two Ranji Trophies.

He was also the part of winning squad of Mumbai Indians in 2015 and 2017. He announced his retirement official in February 2021 after he was finding a lack of chances at the international level. The former bowler is all set to work in close quarters with MI management and coaching staff. Upon his joining in the above-mentioned profile, he added that is quite happy to be part of the team that strives for excellence in all aspects.

“I am honored for this opportunity to associate with Mumbai Indians again. Mumbai Indians strive for excellence in every aspect of the game, and scouting talents is undoubtedly their key strength. It’s a new chapter and personally, I reckon it as an opportunity for me to give back to cricket,” said Kumar as quoted by Sportstar.

Vinay Kumar becomes the latest one to join Mumbai Indians’ scout after former cricketer Parthiv Patel recently joined the franchise in the same discipline. Owner of Mumbai Indians, Akash Ambani also extended his warm welcome to the cricketer and added that he is sure that Kumar will add value to the ideology and scouting strength of Mumbai Indians.

The next phase of IPL is all set to see action in UAE after it got suspended in India due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Mumbai Indians will look forward to defending their title for the second time.
