IPL 2021: Net bowler Fazalhaq Farooqi troubles batsmen in CSK’s practice game
It was only a few days back when young Afghanistan pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi was roped in as a net bowler by CSK. Though the bowler doesn’t have much international experience under his belt, his first-class records speak volumes about him. In the latest turn of events, he has been creating trouble for ace batsmen like MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina. In CSK’s latest practice game, Farooqi was seen troubling players with his class pace attack.
He welcomed Raina with several shorts balls which the left-hander couldn’t place very well in the fine leg region. The 20-year-old came with a lot of wide Yorkers to Dhoni on which the skipper managed some singles. After some time, the legendary wicketkeeper-batsman got back to his rhythm and successfully went after the young pacer.

The main thing that got noticed during his bowling was his eye on details. Farooqi bowled only in those areas which are the weak sections of Dhoni and Raina. In the same light, the top-class batsmen of CSK will need to overcome their vulnerabilities before stepping up in the mega event. In the same course, the Afghani bowler created some trouble for CSK’s new member Moeen Ali. He came with tough lengths and also included the edge once.
Ali struggled initially but got on the track quickly and hit a couple of boundaries. The left-arm-pacer had some fine line and length for ace batsman Faf du Plessis. Going by the records of the young pacer, he can be a great prospect in the team. He has impressive 22 wickets to his credit in 12 first-class games. With Josh Hazlewood already missing the IPL 2021, Farooqi’s name might pop up as a replacement.
CSK had a terrible run in IPL 2020 where they missed their ticket to the playoffs for the first time in their league history. Some big names like Suresh Raina also missed the tournament due to personal reasons. However, CSK might be expecting a good season this year after filling some voids in the last auction.
