IPL 2021 mini auction likely to take place on 16th February
There is some Indian Premier League (IPL) related news coming your way. The mini-auction before the 14th IPL edition is likely to take place on 16th February 2021. It has been confirmed that those players who are currently without any contracts and would like to make their registrations can do so via online mode before February 4th, 2021.
Also, all the franchises have been informed that the last date by which they should announce their list of retained players for the 2021 edition of the IPL is 20th January. The Board of Control for Cricket In India (BCCI) has stated in a letter that there would be no player managers or player agents involved.
The letter from the BCCI has also made it clear that any player who fails to abide by the process would be withdrawn immediately from the 2021 IPL auction register.
“Please note that, at this stage of the process, the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) will only deal directly with the state associations and at no time will have any communication with player agents or managers. Any failure by a player to abide by this will (unless BCCI in its sole discretion decides otherwise) result in the player’s name being withdrawn with immediate effect from the IPL 2021 auction register and/or IPL 2021 auction list (as appropriate),” said the letter from the BCCI to all the other state associations as quoted by The Quint.
Unique password and login ID to be sent
The state associations have also been informed that a unique password and login ID will be sent to them in a separate email. The BCCI has also made it clear that the state associations should not share that password with the players as the entire registration process will be online mode. Also, when the registration has been initiated, an email will be generated to the player with the login details so that the registration process can be completed.
“Registration for this season will be via an online IPL auction registration system. A unique password and login will be sent to you in a separate email. Please note the password should be changed once you have logged in for the first time and not to be shared with players. When the above registration is initiated by the state association, it will generate an email to the player with their login details so they can complete the registration process,” added the letter.
The letter adds that the player should log in to the online registration system to ‘express’ his interest. The player should download the player-auction agreement and then it can be uploaded back to the online registration system and the original can be delivered to the state associations. The letter concluded by stating that the physical signature of the player is mandatory.
