India is under the grip of the unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic that has wreaked havoc across the country. India reported more than 3,50,000 cases on 29th April 2021. And, the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is underway in the country amidst the raging pandemic.

And, several cricketers and cricketing franchises have done their bit to support India in its fight against Covid-19. While Pat Cummins donated $50000, Brett Lee contributed 1 bitcoin to help the country fight the pandemic. The Rajasthan Royals franchise (RR) did their bit too and donated a sum of INR 7.5 Crores.

And now, another franchise has followed suit. The Punjab Kings (PBKS) franchise has stated that they have pledged to donate oxygen concentrators, along with Round Table India (RTI). They concluded the tweet by stating that others can join in and help the country in whatever way possible.

Punjab Kings have not experienced a lot of success in IPL 2021

The KL Rahul-led Punjab Kings franchise has not experienced a lot of success in the 2021 IPL edition. They have managed to win only 2 out of the 6 matches that they have played in the tournament and are currently occupying 6th place in the points table.

In their previous IPL encounter against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the Punjab outfit lost the match, as the Eoin Morgan led outfit cantered home with 5 wickets to spare. Next up, the Punjab Kings will be up against the Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) side. The Bangalore outfit has been in scintillating form, in the 14th IPL edition, and is occupying 3rd place in the points table.

The Punjab Kings (PBKS) have not won the IPL even once. In the 2020 edition of the tournament that was held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Punjab side finished at 6th place in the points table.
