IPL 2021: Four overseas players who will be confirmed starters for DC
Delhi Capitals have improved their performance to a great extent in the last 2 years where they have been able to make it to the playoffs. They reached the final of IPL for the first time last season. They were defeated by Mumbai Indians in IPL 2020 final. This season, they have added many new players to their squad in the mini-auction held recently. Let’s have a look at 4 overseas players of the Delhi Capitals team who will be regular starters in IPL 2021.
Kagiso Rabada
South Africa pacer Kagiso Rabada was the purple cap winner of the last season taking the most wickets. He picked 30 wickets in 17 matches he played at an average of 18.26 and economy of 8.34. Rabada played a vital role in taking the Delhi team to the final. He bowled beautifully in both powerplay and death overs. The Proteas fast bowler will be an important player for the Delhi Franchise this season as well.
Marcus Stoinis
Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis was one of the most impactful players of last season in the IPL. He scored 352 runs at an impressive strike rate of 148.52 including 3 half-centuries. He also took 13 wickets at an average of 21.76. Stoinis opened for the Delhi team in the last few matches in IPL 2020. This season too, he could be seen in a similar role.
Anrich Nortje
South African pacer Anrich Nortje was included in the Delhi squad as a replacement player in place of Chris Woakes last year. He made an immediate impact with the ball from the very first match and impressed everyone with his pace bowling at an excess of 150 km/hr. Nortje took 22 wickets in 16 matches at an average of 23.27. He along with Rabada will be the spearhead of pace attack this season as well.
Steve Smith
Steve Smith was bought for 2.2 cr INR in this IPL auction by Delhi Capitals. He was captain of Rajasthan Royals last season but was released ahead of the auction. This season, Smith can prove to be an important batsman in the top order for the Delhi Team. Delhi also have an attacking option in the form of Shimron Hetmyer but Smith may get the nod ahead of him.
