IPL 2021: Four overseas KKR players who will be regular starters
The Kolkata Knight Riders have failed to make it to the playoffs for two consecutive seasons now. They would like to break this streak in 2021. KKR have retained their core squad for this IPL, and also had new additions in the mini-auction. The team management will have to do a lot of brainstorming to choose their four overseas players.
Let’s take a look at four such foreign players who will most likely be a part of the playing XI:
Eoin Morgan
KKR gave the captaincy reins to Eoin Morgan mid-season last year. He will surely be playing all 14 matches for the team unless something extraordinary happens. Morgan was the second-highest scorer for Kolkata in 2020 scoring 418 runs at an average of 41.80 and strike rate of 138.41. This also includes a high score of 68 not out against Rajasthan Royals.
Pat Cummins
Australian pacer Pat Cummins was bought by KKR in IPL 2020 auction after paying a huge amount of 15.5 cr INR. He took 12 wickets last season at an economy of 7.86 with best bowling figures of 4/34. He was also useful with the bat scoring 146 runs including a half-century.
Shakib Al Hasan
Shakib Al Hasan has returned to the KKR team after a long gap. He played for SRH earlier before being banned in between. He was bought by KKR for a price of 3.2 cr INR in the recently concluded mini-auction. Apart from KKR, the Punjab team also bid for him. Shakib would be looking to make a successful comeback for KKR this season.
Andre Russell
Andre Russell is considered one of the biggest match-winners of IPL history. He has won many matches for KKR single-handedly. Though last year he could not perform to his standards, he will be looking to make up for it. Russell has the ability to hit sixes at will. He is going to be a very crucial player for Kolkata this season.
