IPL 2021: CSK vs RR Preview – Dhoni’s men up against Samson and co
After humiliating Punjab Kings, Chennai Super Kings will now take on Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Rajasthan Royals are also coming into this match after a win against Delhi Capitals in a last-over thriller. The league match of IPL 2021 will be played on April 19. Both the teams lost their opening match of the season but came back and got two important points in their second match.
Interestingly, the two teams had met in the final of the inaugural season way back in 2008 in Mumbai and that was won by Rajasthan, but since then CSK has had a wood over Rajasthan. So far in the IPL history, Chennai has won 14 matches over Royals while the latter have only won nine games. With the Wankhede pitch playing all sorts of tricks, it will be interesting to see how this match pans out.

Team News:
Chennai Super Kings: Despite losing their opening match of the season, captain MS Dhoni decided to stick to the same XI. The combination worked out well for Chennai in the second match, when they dominated Punjab. Having said that, Lungi Ngidi has entered CSK’s biosecure bubble and might have a chance of coming in. He could be a good option, but if Dhoni decides to bring him in, then Dwayne Bravo will have to be on the bench. Other than this, there is unlikely to be any change. Sam Curran, Moeen Ali and Faf du Plessis will be the other three overseas picks.
Rajasthan Royals: The decision to bring in David Miller in place of the injured Ben Stokes worked well for the Rajasthan side. For their previous match, they dropped Shreyas Gopal and instead decided to play Jaydev Unadkat. The combination worked out pretty well for the Royals and it doesn’t need any tweaking at this moment. Jofra Archer has not yet recovered completely and will miss this match. Chris Morris, Miller, Jos Buttler and Mustafizur Rahman will be their four overseas picks.
