IPL 2021: Ben Stokes’ powerful pull shot almost breaks the camera

The much-awaited IPL 2021 is less than a week away. The 14th season of the competition will start on April 9 in Chennai with the clash between reigning champions Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Players from around the globe will be featuring in cricket’s richest and most successful T20 tournament.

One of the players who will definitely garner a lot of attention is Rajasthan Royals’ English recruit, Ben Stokes. Arguably the best all-rounder in the world, Stokes will be eyeing a good season with both bat and ball to end his team’s long wait for its second IPL title. The Royals have not managed to win the trophy since their triumph in the inaugural season in 2008.

Just like the Royals, Stokes has also not delivered as per expectations since his inaugural edition in the IPL which was in 2017. In his first-ever season, he had scored 316 runs and picked up 12 wickets to be adjudged the MVP of the season. Since then, he has not managed to cross the 300-run and 10-wicket mark.

In IPL 2020, the England star had looked good in patches as he scored one century and one fifty to score 285 runs. With the ball, he could pick only 2 wickets as the Royals endured another poor season and missed out on the playoffs. In fact, the Rajasthan-based outfit ended IPL 2020 at the bottom of the points table.

Ben Stokes looking in good touch:

As the Royals look forward to putting up a better show in IPL 2021, they will be hoping that Ben Stokes delivers the goods. And it looks like, the World Cup-winner will not disappoint them in the upcoming season. The 29-year old is looking in great touch ahead of IPL 2021. Recently, the Royals shared a clip of Stokes’ training session in the nets and the all-rounder looked in fine touch.

He middled almost all the deliveries as he smashed the ball in all directions amid the cheers of his teammates and others. One of his pull shots also hit the camera and turned it upside down. Stokes had to leave his batting in order to pick the camera up.

Later, his teammate Rahul Tewatia was seen praising him, saying: “Superb form”.  In reply, Stokes said: “Nice to train, we weren’t able to train in England. Game, day off, game, day off, game, day off.”
