IPL 2021 Auction: Three teams which can go for Chris Morris
The preparations for IPL 2021 have officially kicked off as teams came with their respective lists of released and retained players on January 20. Teams released some of their big names out of their pool, and it has created a lot of stir ahead of IPL 2021 auction. It is a known fact that RCB believe in a lot of shuffling and experimenting with their squad, and again, they have released a total of 10 players from their squad ahead of the new season.
Chris Morris was one of the big names that RCB chose to release this year. Different teams might be eyeing him owing to his capabilities with both bat and ball. In the same light, let’s look at three teams that can rope in Chris Morris for IPL 2021.
3. Rajasthan Royals
RR had a terrible IPL 2020 season as they finished last on the points table with only six victories in their account. Their side lacked the depth in batting order big time as there was no one to even middle the ball after Jofra Archer. Another reason was also the lack of all-rounders in their pool as Ben Stokes couldn’t mark his presence in the initial stages of the tournament. In that case, the Proteas all-rounder, Morris, can be a great deal for Rajasthan ahead of the new season.
2. Kings XI Punjab
The Punjab side also displayed some hot and cold form in the IPL 2020 as they depended a lot on their top order. If KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal failed, the team used to collapse in no time. However, they marked their comeback in the tournament with some victories on the trot. Since Jimmy Neesham failed to perform his duties as a perfect all-rounder, the team might be looking for a player who can ace some hitting towards the end and can pull off some overs in between. In that case, Morris can be a great deal for the Punjab side.
A strike-rate of 157.88 can be of a great deal as a lower batsman, and also, the lanky South African has picked 80 wickets in 70 matches he has played so far.
1. Chennai Super Kings
The three-time champions Chennai Super Kings also lost all their rhythm in IPL 2020 season as they kept struggling with their middle-order woes. They finished at 7th place in the points table only when they won their last three matches. Since the team might be looking for a great comeback, they can have the addition of Morris in their lot. Shane Watson has already retired from the game, and Morris might be able to fill in his shoes with his tactics with bat and ball.
At present, CSK have Sam Curran, and Ravindra Jadeja in that capacity, and they have one overseas slot left too. They can definitely look for Morris to fill in the spot.
