IPL 2021 Auction: Three Players Mumbai Indians are likely to release

The defending champions Mumbai Indians have got the most balanced squad among all and are unlikely to make major changes to it ahead of the IPL 2021. The coming season which is likely to be hosted by India will see Mumbai Indians aim for a hat-trick in IPL titles. The Rohit Sharma-led team will once again start as the favourites irrespective of the decisions they are likely to take in the retention process and auctions. Here are the three players whom Mumbai Indians might leave ahead of the IPL 2021:

Anmolpreet Singh:

Anmolpreet Singh isn’t known for his power-hitting but Mumbai franchise has invested in the Punjab batsman. They had bought him for 80 lakhs INR two seasons ago but is yet to make his debut in the league. With a lot of resources coming in the domestic ranks in the past two seasons, the MI management can drop him and rope in a couple of good uncapped batsmen and nurture them for the future.

Nathan Coulter-Nile:

Nathan Coulter-Nile made a mark for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2020 despite coming into the playing XI from halfway stage. He was bought by the Mumbai team for a whopping 8 crore INR and there is a chance that he might miss the upcoming season. Leaving Coulter-Nile at this stage could help Mumbai Indians to save money in the purse for auction and also retain James Pattinson who they brought in as a replacement player. If Coulter-Nile is fit enough for the IPL 2021, they could get him back for a lower price in the auctions.

IPL

Chris Lynn:

Chris Lynn, well known for his exploits in the BBL, couldn’t find a place even for once in the IPL 2020 while being in the Mumbai Indians’ squad. The presence of Rohit Sharma, Quinton de Kock, Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav might not help Lynn to play any matches in 2021 either. With a lot of top-order players in their line-up, MI could let Lynn go and save an overseas spot to rope in someone who could be flexible in the batting order.
