IPL 2021: 15 plastic bottles are recycled to make one CSK jersey

Chennai Super Kings

With the 14th edition of the much-awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) about to commence in two weeks’ time, all eight teams will be gearing up for the tournament. And now, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have come out with a jersey that not just looks extremely attractive, but will also have a positive effect on the environment.

The CSK side has a redesigned jersey for the 2021 edition of the IPL. Myntra will be the new sponsor for CSK’s jersey for the upcoming IPL edition. The jersey will also have a touch of the army to it, as MS Dhoni’s love and respect for the army is well known.

And now, there are some important features in the jersey that will make people sit up and take notice. The new CSK T-shirt is made completely with only recycled plastic, and 15 plastic bottles have been recycled to make a single jersey. The polyester in the jersey consumes 90% less water and will also reduce the carbon emissions into the atmosphere by 270 grams.

CSK had a disastrous outing in the 2020 IPL edition

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) would desperately be hoping for a change in fortunes after their abysmal performance in the 2020 edition of the IPL. The ‘Yellow Brigade’ failed to qualify for the playoffs last year, and looked totally clueless.

The MS Dhoni-led side could muster just 6 wins from 14 matches and finished at 7th place in the tournament. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) side is one of the most successful sides in IPL history. They have won the IPL a staggering 3 times and have also managed to reach the finals on a whopping 8 occasions.

CSK will also be bolstered by the return of the legendary Suresh Raina for the upcoming IPL edition. Raina had given the 2020 edition of the IPL a miss due to some personal issues. The left-hander is the second-highest run-scorer in the history of the IPL and has plundered 5368 runs at an average of 33.34. The Chennai outfit will be hoping to put up a better performance in the 2021 IPL edition.
