IPL 2020: RR vs DC Review – Delhi’s dream run continues with another all-round show

DC

The Delhi Capitals’ juggernaut continues in IPL 2020 as they register their fifth win of the season. Coming back to Sharjah, the Rajasthan Royals were hoping to return to winning ways and accordingly, opted to bowl first. They bowled superbly as well to send back the top four of DC very early. However, Marcus Stoinis and Shimron Hetmyer played cameos to propel the team to 184/8 in 20 overs.

The Royals, again, would’ve expected to chase it down given the fact that they chased down a record total at the same venue a few days ago. However, it didn’t go to plan for them with their top four failing miserably yet again. Buttler, Smith and Samson got out early while Yashasvi Jaiswal struggled to get going.

On the flip side, DC bowled really well, especially Ravi Ashwin who returned with the figures of 2/22 while the other bowlers also chipped in with wickets. There was no respite for the Royals who kept losing wickets and were eventually bundled out for 138 runs in 19.4 overs.

Turning Points

Stoinis’ all-round show: Marcus Stoinis has been in some fine form this season. He came in to bat when the team was struggling at 50/3 and then batted well. Though he scored only 39 runs off 30 deliveries, Stoinis made sure that the run-rate didn’t come down at any stage. He struck with the ball too picking crucial wickets of Jaiswal and Samson to end with the figures of 2/17 in his two overs. Clearly, his all-round performance made the difference for DC.
