IPL 2020: RCB vs SRH Review – Playoff race heats up with Hyderabad win
The playoffs race has continued to intensify in the ongoing Indian Premier League. After the Delhi Capitals lost to Mumbai Indians earlier in the day, Sunrisers Hyderabad. have gone past the Royal Challengers Bangalore with an easy win to stay alive in the hunt.
After winning the toss, Hyderabad bowled superbly in the Powerplay, nipping out both Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli early. Josh Philippe and AB de Villiers then added 43 runs together before Shahbaz Nadeem got the better of AB in a huge breakthrough. Philippe scored 32 but played a rash shot off Rashid Khan to leave the team reeling at 76/4. Washington Sundar mustered 21 runs but there was no momentum to the innings at any stage.
All of Hyderabad’s bowlers picked up wickets to restrict RCB to 120/7 in their 20 overs. In response, the Orange Army lost their skipper David Warner early. However, Saha and Pandey stitched 50 runs with the latter taking the charge in the Powerplay. Saha, at the other end, once again proved his mettle scoring 39 off 32 balls.
Yuzvendra Chahal’s arrival led to RCB making a comeback in the second half of the chase. But Jason Holder played an unbeaten cameo of 26 runs in 10 balls to take SRH over the line in the 15th over itself.
Turning Point
Sandeep Sharma’s two wickets – Sandeep Sharma bowled a terrific spell with the new ball picking the most crucial wickets. He first castled Padikkal and then dismissed RCB skipper Virat Kohli for the seventh time overall. RCB never recovered from early blows and Sandeep’s figures of 2/20 earned him the Man of the Match award.
