IPL 2020: Here’s how the 8 teams stack up after the auction
The IPL auctions in Kolkata was as expected a glitzy and glamorous affair. 338 players went under the hammer with 73 slots up for grabs. As expected, the likes of Pat Cummins and Glenn Maxwell fetched a big sum as the franchises went all out to attain their services. Cummins ended up being the most expensive buy at the auction, with KKR buying him for a princely sum of 15.50 crores. His fellow Australian Maxwell also fetched a big sum at 10.75 crores. Chris Morris rounds-up the top-three most expensive buys, going to RCB for 10 crores.
There were also some surprising omissions as the likes of Colin Munro, Colin de Grandhomme and Evin Lewis could not find any buyers. With the auctions now done and dusted, we now have an idea of how the franchises stack up and what their playing philosophy will be for the upcoming season. In the end, 62 players were sold including 29 overseas players. The total amount spent by the 8 franchises amounted to 140.3 crores.
