IPL 2020: English cricketer Michael Vaughan feels RCB will not win the title
Former England skipper Michael Vaughan has written off Royal Challengers Bangalore’s chances of winning the ongoing edition of the IPL. The former cricket has said that RCB does not look like the title contenders. Vaughan feels RCB does not have ‘enough collectively’ to go all the way and win the elusive title.
RCB, on Monday, finally sealed their spot in the playoffs even after losing to Delhi Capitals thanks to their net run-rate. The loss was the fourth in a row for the Virat Kohli-led side. One of the only three teams who are playing from the inaugural season of the IPL but are yet to win the title, RCB have made it to the playoffs for the first time since 2016.

The Bangalore-based outfit must be desperate to end their long wait for the first-ever IPL title. But Vaughan believes RCB will finish the IPL empty-handed once again. While the former cricketer stated that anything is possible in 2020, he was quick to state that RCB winning the ongoing season looks like a tall order.
“Can the RCB team win it this year? I’ve said that from the beginning, I don’t think they’ve got enough collectively to win it,” Vaughan told Cricbuzz.
“Look anything is possible particularly in 2020, the world’s been turned upside down so who knows what’s gonna happen. Virat Kohli might bat left-handed and win them the game (in a gest) but it’s a tall order,” he added.
No option but to play hard and aggressive cricket: Michael Vaughan
Explaining the reason behind ruling RCB out of the title race, Vaughan said that the team does not have the required number of confident players who can deliver under pressure. He also said that the lack of option could work in RCB’s favour, saying that the team has no option but to play hard cricket.
“I look at teams and individuals and see are there enough individuals in the RCB team full of confidence to play in the pressure that they would be under… I guess the one thing in RCB’s favour is that they’ve got no other options but to play hard and aggressive cricket,” Vaughan said.
Along with RCB, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals have also sealed their spots in the playoffs. Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals have sealed the first and second spots respectively. The fourth and final team in the playoffs will be decided on Tuesday after the game between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai.
