IPL 2020: Delhi Capitals Physio tests positive for coronavirus

The Assistant Physio of Delhi Capitals has tested positive for coronavirus, the franchise revealed via a media release on Sunday. The Capitals are the third team to report a positive case from their squad after a case from Rajasthan Royals before they reached the UAE and around 12 cases from the Chennai Super Kings camp.

The Delhi Capitals confirmed that the physio is now serving a quarantine period and is not in any contact with any other team member. The physio had travelled independently to the UAE earlier this week and tested negative in the first two tests. However, his third RT-PCR test returned a positive result.

“He was isolated immediately, and is currently at the IPL Isolation Facility in Dubai for the next 14 days, at the end of which he will have to produce two negative reports for him to be able to join the Delhi Capitals squad. The franchise’s medical team is in constant touch with him, and wishes him a speedy recovery,” the release stated.

As per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), all other squad members will be tested on the fifth day of every week throughout the IPL. Delhi Capitals are currently placed in Dubai and shall continue training in the build-up to IPL 2020. They will be up against Kings XI Punjab in Dubai on September 20 in their opening encounter.
