IPL 2020: Deepak Chahar starts training post Covid-19 recovery
Chennai Super Kings pacer Deepak Chahar on Wednesday (September 9) began training for IPL 2020 after recovering from a bout of coronavirus.
Chahar was one of the two CSK players to have tested positive for Covid-19, alongside batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad. Around 11 other members of the support staff had also tested positive on their arrival in the UAE. The pacer then underwent a strict two-week quarantine period, before returning two negative Covid-19 tests.
“Except for the Indian batsman, who is in quarantine, all others have come out. The Indian fast bowler has tested negative twice and is back,” CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan told ESPNcricinfo on Wednesday.
CSK’s official twitter handle also shared a picture of the fast bowler as he was spotted bowling in the nets.

The Chennai camp has already been dealt with several blows even before the start of the tournament. After 13 members of CSK tested Covid-19, two senior players opted out of the 2020 season due to personal reasons. Star batsman Suresh Raina and veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh will not be a part of the CSK unit this time around. However, with Dhoni still at the helm, there will be little concern in the dressing room.
Earlier this week, the BCCI finally announced the complete schedule for the tournament. Defending champions Mumbai Indians are set to face CSK in the opener on September 19 at Abu Dhabi.
