IPL 2020: DC vs SRH Review – All-round SRH register first win of the season
Sunrisers Hyderabad have managed to win their first game of the 2020 Indian Premier League, beating Delhi Capitals by 15 runs. The SRH batting was bolstered by the addition of New Zealand captain Kane Williamson.
After losing the toss, openers Jonny Bairstow and David Warner and newly drafted Kane Williamson did well to post a formidable total of 162 in 20 overs. While Bairstow slammed a half-century, Warner and Williamson scored crucial knocks to make sure the team did well with the bat.
In response, Delhi Capitals started slowly and lost early wickets as well. Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant hung around for some time. But Rashid Khan got the better of them bowling superbly. While the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T Natarajan delivered on the day as well. Their important spells helped them restrict the opposition to only 147/7 in 20 overs.
SRH’s four overseas players stepped up along with senior Indian players to help the team win their first game of the season.
Turning Point
Rashid Khan’s spell – You can’t keep this man out of the game for long. After a quiet start to the tournament, Rashid came into his own when the team needed it the most. First, he sent back Delhi skipper Shreyas Iyer and then got the better of the dangerous-looking Shikhar Dhawan. However, the final nail in the coffin for DC was Pant’s wicket. The leg-spinner finished with the magical figures of 3/14 in his four overs. It proved to be game-changing in the end.
